What's it all about?
We're raising funds towards the 2007 World Scout Jamboree at Hylands Park in Essex. We've got over 40 teenagers from Solihull going, and we're helping them to be able to go, and also helping young people from other countries afford to come over and participate in an event that has more countries represented than at the Olympic Games!
Who's Taking Part?
You! (Hopefully!). We're offering people the opportunity to be able to say "I was there" and help set the world record! In return, we ask for an entry fee of £15, and ask that you commit to raise at least £75 through sponsorship - money that we'll use to help to send young people from Solihull and across the globe to the World Scout Jamboree.
Where's the abseil going to be?
In Solihull! Touchwood are very kindly allowing us to hold it in the John Lewis car park - down the central atrium by the lifts...
The abseil itself will be about 70ft from the top to the
second basement floor... So - it's going to be high!
Hmm - looks dangerous..?
We're working with Pinnacle Challenge, who are experts
in running charity abseils. They're providing the
equipment, safety equipment, and the instructors.
Explorer Scouts from Solihull will be on hand to take
your picture as you head down, and provide you with a
free t-shirt at the end to prove that you took part in
the abseil!
I'm interested - what do I do next?
Please contact us at info@theAbseil.org.uk or use the form
in the Contact section, as there are a finite number of
people that we can physically send down the abseil during
the day (don't worry - there's still space at the moment!).
We'll be in touch asking for the £15 entry fee, and will
also send you a sponsorship pack - and, closer to the date,
the details of when and where you need to be!
If your company offers Matched Giving, then please do
consider using Matched Giving on any money that you raise,
too!
